SHOW DEM CAMP

By Samata Angel

Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

Many young Africans already know about the Show Dem Camp - SDC - a quadrant of musicians, entrepreneurs and inspirers who are utilising their experiences within the music industry and global journeys to make creative global music and form a network of like-minded ‘Flygerians’, Africans and artists.

With hit track ‘Yawa on the dance floor’ doing the rounds in clubs across Abuja and Lagos, SDC have been flagged as the ones to watch, very closely.

SDC have worked with a range of diverse international artists from the US to Germany, and from the UK to Nigeria, including MOBO award-winner Tuface Idibia and German soul singer Nneka and have a debut album, fittingly entitled ‘Memoirs’ on its way.

In their first ever podcast for a UK-based publication, British-born Ghanaian Samata Angel, interviews Tec, one-quarter of these multi-talented Nigerians.

Tec, speaking on behalf of the Show Dem Camp, is very open about their plans for the future, the ‘new Nigeria’ and the global music they are creating in line with their global vision with an insightful view of the determinants of change, fresh sounds and what is means to be inspired. The message is clear, SDC are global musicians, producing global music with a global awareness.
