Five Ways to Transform Your Wellbeing This Year

Caring for your emotional and mental wellbeing is key to staying healthy and feeling great. It is, in many cases, more important than your physical health, but don’t think that you can favour one over the other. Physical and mental health need to be equally cared for if you want to finally transform your wellbeing this year: 

Make Dinner a Pleasurable Event 

Eating healthy can be a challenge for anyone. You wake up and need to rush to work. If you didn’t pack a lunch, you only have what is available to you nearby, and sometimes there won’t be a healthy option. You may find that the only time you truly have to yourself is at dinner. 

Dinner can either be an exhausting chore to do at the end of a long day, or it can be a reward. A good way to make it into a reward is to prep everything ahead of time, say on Sunday. This way you have all your meals chosen ahead of time. You’ll already have the ingredients, and if necessary, will have everything prepped. 

All that is left is to put on some great music and invite your family down to cook. If you live alone, bring friends over at least once a week so your healthy dinners can be a pleasurable, social event. 

Go for a Long Walk at Least Once a Week 

Studies have shown that just 20 minutes spent in nature can help reduce stress. If you can, try to go for regular walks through parks, have picnics, sunbathe in the summer, or simply focus on making your backyard into a natural haven for wildlife like bees and for yourself. 

Use Natural Remedies to Keep Calm 

A great way to be calm on the go (and to simply relax more often) is to use natural remedies. Tea, for example, has been used for thousands of years. Top types to help promote calmness and your wellbeing include: 

  • Chamomile 

  • Peppermint 

  • Lavender 

Tea, however, is not the only natural remedy that can help you relax. CBD is the newest product on the market that can be ingested, breathed in, or even rubbed directly onto your skin. It works to relax you, ease pain, and can provide a host of other health benefits. 

Have Screenless Days 

Our phones offer many wonderful capabilities, but they also don’t allow us to really switch off. By having screenless days, or even screenless evenings, we can slow down, power down, and get a better night’s sleep. 

Make Plans with Friends (And Stick to Them) 

Your loved ones are so important for your wellbeing, but with our busy lives it can feel like we aren’t spending as much time with them as we should. A great way to counteract this is to make it a routine. Have dinner together once a week, for example, or sign up for an exercise class. Combine healthy, wellbeing-friendly activities with loved ones and feel the benefits first-hand.
